El Partido Comunista de Chile y la génesis del Frente Popular (1934-1937)

Abstract

Este artículo analiza el paso de la política ultraizquierdista y sectaria de “clase contra clase” que practicó el Partido Comunista de Chile hasta 1934, a la política de Frentes Populares de amplia unidad antifascista, antioligárquica y antiimperialista. Se estudia el gran viraje del PCCh en 1935, las resistencias que se produjeron en su seno al cambio impulsado por la Internacional Comunista, las coincidencias y desacuerdos entre los cuadros comunistas chilenos y responsables komintereanos, la imbricación entre factores nacionales e internacionales en este cambio de estrategia. Igualmente, se revisan las disposiciones tácticas implementadas por el PCCh para realizar la unidad sindical y la formación del Frente Popular, las modulaciones y acomodos teóricos sucesivos de la línea del partido, la forma como se consolidó la nueva línea hasta 1937 y la postergación indefinida de sus objetivos socialistas.

This article analyses the transition of the Communist Party of Chile's (CCP) policies, from the ultra-left and sectarian "class against class" policy practiced until 1934 to the Popular Front policy of broad anti-fascist, anti-oligarchic and anti-imperialist unity. The great turning-point of the CCP in 1935 is studied, the internal resistances to the change promoted by the Communist International, the concurrences and disagreements between the Chilean communist cadres and Komintern leaders, the relationship between national and international factors in this change of strategy. Furthermore, it examines the tactical provisions implemented by the CCP to achieve union unity and the formation of the Popular Front, the successive variations and theoretical adaptations of the party line, the way the new line was consolidated until 1937 and the indefinite postponement of their socialist goals.
