Valoración de servicios ecosistémicos y cambio en el uso del suelo. La importancia del capital social en los Andes peruanos

Abstract

En esta tesis se estudió el efecto de la migración temporal sobre la valoración de los servicios ecosistémicos, así como el papel del capital social en el cambio en el uso del suelo, teniendo como sistema de estudio los tunales naturales ubicados en comunidades campesinas de Ayacucho, Perú, uno de los más importantes socioecosistemas del área andina. Los resultados permitieron identificar y valorar los bienes y servicios provistos por los tunales, y establecer que la migración temporal tiene un efecto positivo sobre la valoración de los servicios ecosistémicos. Se definieron algunas variables proxy para capital social relevantes en el área andina, y se analizó el proceso de habilitación de los tunales, identificándose al número de membresías en asociaciones y a la tasa de participación en las reuniones del comité de productores de cochinilla, como variables significativas en dicho proceso. Finalmente, se desarrolló un modelo de la dinámica del socio-ecosistema, resaltando el papel del capital social en la habilitación y su efecto posterior sobre los ingresos de los campesinos.

In this thesis, the effect of temporary migration on the valuation of ecosystem services was studied, as well as the role of social capital in the change in land use, having as a study system the natural prickly pears located in peasant communities of Ayacucho, Peru, one of the most important socioecosystems in the Andean area. The results allowed identifying and valuing the goods and services provided by the prickly pears, and establishing that temporary migration has a positive effect on the valuation of ecosystem services. Some relevant proxy variables for social capital in the Andean area were defined, and the process of enabling the prickly pears was analyzed, identifying the number of memberships in associations and the rate of participation in the meetings of the committee of cochineal producers, as significant variables. in said process. Finally, a model of the dynamics of the socio-ecosystem was developed, highlighting the role of social capital in empowerment and its subsequent effect on the income of the peasants
