Abstract
Introducción:Variados parámetros cefalométricos han sido propuestos para describir la relación anteroposterior entre los maxilares. Así también, se han publicado estudios que reportan distintos factores que afectan la validez de tales medidas. Recientes estudios proponen al APDI como complemento al ANB y Wits, por su alta correlación clínica y consistencia. Dado que el APDI en nuestro medio es poco conocido y utilizado, se planteó como objetivo de este estudio la validación de este parámetro cefalométrico en la población chilena. Metodología: En una muestra de 94 telerradiografías laterales de pacientes con neutroclusión y buen perfil facial, se determinó el valor del APDI y comparó con el valor de a muestra de Kim, considerando su comportamiento por edad, género y patrón rotacional, así como su relación con el ángulo plano palatino-plano AB. Conclusiones: Los resultados indican un valor ligeramente distinto al propuesto por Kim, asimismo, no se encontró diferencias por género, edad y patrón rotacional, lo que permite la utilización de un único valor indistintamente.
