De apachetas a cruces de mayo: identidades, territorialidad y memorias en los Altos de Arica, Chile

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza las expresiones simbólicas, las identidades y memorias colectivas que se expresan en torno a las apachetas y cruces de mayo en la precordillera de Arica, Chile. Con ello, buscamos identificar y comprender las expresiones rituales, significados e identidades que subsisten en las poblaciones indígenas y mestizas de la región, que han configurado sus propias concepciones de espacio, paisaje y territorialidad.

This article analyzes the symbolic expressions, identities and collective memories that are expressed around the apachetas (shrines) and May crosses in the foothills of Arica, Chile. With this, we seek to identify and understand the ritual expressions, meanings and identities that exist in indigenous and mestizo populations in the region, who have set up their own conceptions of space, landscape and territoriality.
