Abstract
dc.description.abstract

Abstract
In recent years, video games have become a mass phenomenon which entertains not only children, but teenagers, parents and adult people in general. Video-game players belong to a diverse group known as “gamers”, however, a further question arises: Which are the sociological implications regarding that labelling?
The identity phenomenon and video-games have a special characteristic as playing video-games is in itself an interaction between an individual and a machine. This feature involves incorporating the role of non-human actors in the processes of construction of identity. Thus, the Actor-Network theory allows us to go deeper into the subjects of the video-games phenomenon, identifying both human and non-human elements that are part of the construction of identity
