Climate change phenomenon, attributed to greenhouse gases (GHG), and its consequences have caused the concern for analyzing GHG emissions in corporations and product´s life cycle through the development of emissions inventories or Carbon Footprint. Thermal generation in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago de Chile is mainly based on natural gas. To generate information about it responsibility in GHG emissions is important in order to contribute to reduction strategies and more demanding regulatory policies. According to this, an emission’s study from natural gas distributed by Metrogas was performed. The main objective was the estimation and analysis of Product Carbon Footprint of natural gas distributed in Santiago de Chile during 2011 according to standard PAS 2050:2011. The method proposed by the standard was used and adapted to the study case in four stages: a. Scoping, b. Data Collection, c. Emissions estimation and d. Result’s analysis. A total of 25.59 kgCO2e/MMBTU were estimated, of which 72% corresponds to "Up-Stream" stage and 28% to "Core" stage. In the latter, it was concluded that emissions are mainly contributed by diesel and gasoline use in Metrogas vehicles. Finally, any solution to be implemented will depend on the reduction targets of the company and its business strategy....
