The ownership of pets, especially dogs, is a fact widely accepted in our culture; although it’s associated with a number of positive effects, for both owner’s physical and mental health, it has a number of side effects, especially if the human-animal bond is broken for some reason. The main reason reported for this break is the development of behavioral problems, a situation frequently associated with euthanasia, abuse and abandonment of affected animals. The aim of this study is to determine if the owner's personality and some socio-cultural factors are associated with the presentation of behavioral problems in dogs. For this, 48 consultants of the Santo Tomás Veterinary Health Center, located in La Pintana, were surveyed. The participants answered a questionnaire about the pet, its environment and the presentation of behavioral problems, and the questionnaire NEO-FFI (Costa y McCrae, 1992) adapted for the Chilean population, about the owner's personality. The results of these instruments were subjected to logistic regression, which determined that there is an association between the personality of the owner, the characteristics of dog’s social and fisical enviroment and the development of behavioral problems in dogs....

Cannabis sativa is one of the most consumed drugs worldwide and nationally, currently, due to much more permissive legislation focused on its use and possession by humans, there has been an exponential increase in cases of Cannabis sativa poisoning by pets in recent years, this due to greater exposure to this type of toxins, with dogs being the ones that are most affected, due to their lower selection abilities when it comes to consuming food. Along with the above, the lack of information on the national situation regarding this problem is that the preparation of this report will be considered of great importance. Thus, the main objective of this report was to carry out a systematic and updated review on Cannabis sativa intoxication in dogs, considering toxicological and clinical aspects, diagnostic and therapeutic tools, and prognosis. This will allow us to know how to manage poisoning of this type, which in practice has been increasing, and also propose a therapeutic protocol for our canine patients. For this purpose, from a universe of 317 scientific papers obtained, these were selected according to the specific objectives and with the proposed inclusion and exclusion criteria, thus leaving 28 manuscripts, which were valued and cataloged according to their origin, impact factor and degree of experimental design, in order to be used in the writing of this monograph and propose a therapeutic protocol. This way, it was possible to redact a monograph based on bibliographic sources with an average impact factor of 11.97 points during the realization of this title report. Among the main discussions generated on this subject, the problem of the lack of information at the national level regarding this subject arises, as well as its prevalence and incidence in the country, the difficulty of carrying out certain treatments or diagnoses due to the lack of equipment and material necessary to carry them out, and the differences in the prevalence of the signology presented, among others. With all of the above, it can be concluded that Cannabis sativa intoxication in dogs is a pathology that has been increasing in recent times, this has encouraged its investigation, however, there are still questions to be answered regarding its toxicodynamics and the recipients involved in poisoning, however, based on the references consulted, a therapeutic protocol relevant to the reality of the country was proposed....

The present study it provides important information about the incidence of Salmonella in cats, specifically reared as pets in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. It is worth mentioning that there are no prevalence studies with regards to this issue in Chile, and the aim of the study to look for a relative incidence associated with cats reared as pets, is a first step that allows more research in the near future on the subject, and thus, achieve better surveillance with regard to pets. Samples came from the districts of Puente Alto, Recoleta, Estación Central, Las Condes, Providencia and Ñuñoa, and were taken during the period between August 2016 and October 2017. There were 342 samples of stool collected, from which 308 were used for the study. A total incidence of 0% was observed, since no cat was positive to the microbiological method used. The incidence found in the present study is comparable to post-1980 studies in which an incidence of 1.9% is described and it closely resembles what has been seen in developed countries, with incidence studies in their populations of dogs and cats, as it is the case of the USA with an incidence of 0.6%...
