The concept of ‘evaluation’ in narrative has been addressed in multiple studies since the seminal work by Labov & Waletzky (1967) and Labov (1972).
Although several studies have been carried out about PEIB, few pieces of research from social sciences had contributed to lay a special emphasis on the material conditions of minoritized language speakers’ communities, where the Chilean state is identified as the main responsible for perpetuating the endemic poverty that characterizes, in general, to Mapuche communities within a colonial system motivated by the economic, political, and social model. My research article, on the construction of situated knowledge premise, aims for revising the PEIB case from a transdisciplinary, anti-colonial, and autobiographical perspective. Through a literature review from my Mapuche champurria’s political position, I propose a route on four thematic axes; anti-colonial epistemology, state, identities, and education, where PEIB will be studied at the light of concepts and theoretical contributions that allows me to decode its intention, approach, and main drawbacks. Some reflections that arise from this research article point out the altruist rhetoric adopted by the PEIB program, where linguistic revitalization is promoted through the study of cultures, making of interculturality an isolated task that is under the seal of the institutional structure which disregards the political basis of indigenous identities in a society that criminalizes and punishes to the ones who challenge the unified project of Estate-nation. In this sense, the state initiatives are insufficient due to its origin starts from an asymmetrical and subordinated dialogue, along with territorial claims where the institutional structure has been unable to offer public policies regarding recognition that helps to build both interethnic and respectful relationships between Chilean society and indigenous communities....
