Evaluación de potenciales atrayentes de Vespula germánica (F.)

Abstract

Se evaluaron en el campo seis potenciales atrayentes de Vespula germanica (F.) (ácido acético con isobutanol, mermelada de frambuesa, leche condensada, harina de hueso y las mezclas de las sustancias azucaradas con harina de hueso). Se utilizaron botellas plásticas cilíndricas transparentes de 1,5 L con aberturas laterales, con los atrayentes en frascos abiertos colgando en su interior y agua con 5% de detergente líquido en el fondo. Se dispusieron en el terreno en bloques al azar, en las especies arbóreas presentes en el lugar del ensayo, a una altura de 1-1,5 m sobre el nivel del suelo, separadas aproximadamente 10 m, para evitar interferencias entre los tratamientos. La capacidad de atracción se midió en función del número de capturas en las trampas 2-3 veces por semana, durante 3 meses. Las trampas se rotaron después de cada revisión para minimizar el efecto de su posición en el campo. El mayor porcentaje de capturas de obreras de V. germanica se obtuvo con ácido acético e isobutanol, tratamiento que se diferenció estadísticamente de todos los demás, los que no se diferenciaron entre sí, ni del control. Además, se produjo una alta captura de moscas, principalmente de la familia Muscidae y Caliphoridae, indicando que la combinación de los atrayentes químicos atrae otros insectos presentes en el sitio de estudio. No hubo capturas de especies benéficas, como abejas melíferas (Apis mellifera) o abejorros (Bombus spp). Estos resultados indican la necesidad de seguir investigando sobre la atracción que ejerce el ácido acético en combinación con el isobutanol, con la finalidad de obtener un cebo específico para el control de V. germanica.

Six potential feeding attractants for Vespula germanica (F.) (acetic acid plus isobutanol, raspberry jam, condensed milk, bone flour, and mixtures of the sugary compounds with bone flour) were evaluated in field trials. Transparent cylindrical 1.5 L plastic bottles with two side windows were used as tramps with the attractants in vials hanging inside and the bottom with water and a 5% detergent solution were distributed randomly blocked in the field, on the trees available, at 1-1.5 m above the ground, separated about 10 m to avoid spatial interferences with captures. The attractiveness was estimated based on the number of captures in the traps checked 2-3 times a week. Traps were rotated after every revision to minimize the effect of their position in the field. The largest captures of V. germanica workers were obtained with acetic acid plus isobutanol, treatment statistically different from the others, which were not different between themselves. Besides, a high captures of flies was obtained mainly Muscidae and Calliphoridae, indicating that the chemical attractants attracted other insects species. No honeybees or bumblebees were captured. These results indicate the need to keep studying the attraction caused by acetic acid combined with isobutanol, to obtain in a specific bait to control V. germanica.
