SERS of α, β‐unsaturated ketones on colloidal silver

Abstract

Raman and infrared spectra of four α,β‐unsaturated ketones were studied. Surface‐enhanced Raman spectra were obtained on colloidal silver with two laser lines (514.5 and 647.1 nm). Evidence of strong chemisorption on the silver surface was supported by the observation of the metal‐ligand stretching vibrations. Molecular orientation of the substrate is discussed using the electromagnetic interpretation of observed intensities. Copyright © 1988 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
