A sex difference in the postcentral sulcus of the human brain
Author
Abstract
The postcentral sulcus has two fissurization patterns: (I) the sulcus extends continuously into the sylvian fissure; (II) the sulcus is interrupted in its trajectory. In the left but not in the right hemisphere, there was a sex difference in the distribution of these fissural patterns, type I being more frequent in men and type II being more frequent in women. No hemispheric asymmetry was found for these patterns in either sex. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
