Abstractdc.description.abstractThe neurodevelopmental hypothesis of schizophrenia states that the disease is associated with abnormal brain development. This defect predisposes to a characteristic pattern of brain malfunction in early adult fife and to symptoms diagnostically recognizable. Evidence of pathological neurodevelopment in schizophrenia is based in neuroimaging, necropsy and histological studies and increased frequency of premorbid neurofunctional abnormalities and adverse environmental events in utero in patients with schizophrenia.
