Abstractdc.description.abstractPsychological risk factors in borderline personality disorder is reviewed. It's concluded that development of borderline psychopathology is most readily accounted for by any single psychological risk factor or even by groups of risk factors. There are probably multiple pathways to borderline personality disorders. Histories of trauma play an important role in a subgroup of patients, while others psychological risk factors could be just as important in other cases.
