Objective: The objective of the study was to analyze the curricular composition of the Midwives career in the different universities that teach the degree, in Chile during the year 2023. Material and method: Descriptive observational design. For the execution of the research, a characterization guideline specially prepared for this study was applied. 25 curriculums were collected to carry out the investigation, all of them corresponding to the midwives career. Results: The universities that offer the midwives career in 56% are private institutions. The campuses of these universities are concentrated in the Metropolitan region with 37.5% of the total. The courses contained in the curriculum are distributed in 91.68% in the first four years of the degree, concentrating in the basic sciences, general training and clinical discipline areas with de 52.12% of the total, those belonging to the areas of obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology correspond to 22.84% of the total, the theoretical ones predominate in the first 4 years of the degree and correspond to 87.52% of the total courses analyzed, finally those of an annual type correspond to 5, 22% of the total courses. Conclusion: The courses of the midwives career in Chile in the year 2023 stand out for containing mostly courses associated with the areas of basic sciences, general training and clinical discipline. At the University of Chile, since 2013 a new entrance system has been implemented for students of excellence in the academic trajectory that come from public establishments of high vulnerability. Objective: To know the experience of the students that enter by equity quotas to the School of Obstetrics between the years 2013 to 2016. Methods: Case studies. A questionnaire was applied to the students and interviews were held with the teachers. Results: The dropout rate was 41%, whose main cause was vocational. 90% of the students who still remain present reprobation. According to the students and teachers, the main obstacles were the lack of study techniques and the lack of knowledge in basic sciences. Conclusions: The experience for the students is gratifying, since it assures them the entrance to the University. However, it is frustrating for them to realize all the theoretical shortcomings they have, as a result of the inequalities that exist in education in Chile. It is necessary to rethink the support strategies so that they are perceived as help and not as academic overload....
