Ingresos a través del ciclo económico

Abstract
En este estudio se investiga la relación entre el ciclo económico y los ingresos de los trabajadores chilenos durante el periodo 2006 – 2012. Utilizando datos microeconómicos de la Base de Datos longitudinal del Seguro de Cesantía se encuentra que los ingresos se relacionan positivamente con el ciclo económico. Si bien, el mercado laboral en Chile es rígido, los resultados de esta investigación sugieren que los ingresos son flexibles. Esto quiere decir que, en presencia de alzas de la tasa de desempleo, los ingresos disminuyen y cuando la tasa de desempleo baja, aumentan. Las caídas y aumentos de los ingresos se deben tanto a los cambios de trabajo como a cambios en el ingreso durante un mismo trabajo. Es más, las variaciones del ingreso de los trabajadores chilenos que permanecen en el mismo trabajo son parecidas a las de los trabajadores estadounidenses que no cambian de empleo, a pesar de que las leyes laborales en Estados Unidos son mucho más flexibles que en Chile. Por último, se muestra que existe heterogeneidad de los cambios del ingreso durante la fluctuación del ciclo económico por nivel educacional y por sector económico.
